Christ is Risen!

Inklings from the part of the world where it all started. On Good Friday our family broke our fast from media by watching a film about the story of Jesus as seen through the eyes of Mary Magdalene. Noticing the landscape in an outdoor scene, my 8 year old son (number 4 of 5), cried out, “Hey, it looks like Lebanon!” I reminded our family that the gospels tell us on several occasions Jesus walked with his disciples right through the very region where we are living. If the present political borders were not drawn where they are and we could simply drive a few hours south of our house we would be exactly where the crucifixion and resurrection happened. What a privilege to have such family experiences; to walk where Jesus walked.

But thankfully, as Jesus told Pilate, “My kingdom is not of this world…” (John 18:36) So, no matter where in the world you are sitting as you read this initial post, the joy and ressurrection power of Christ’s kingdom is yours if his Spirit is present in your life as his follower. Because of the resurrection, Christ’s kingdom is not bound to ephemeral geopolitical borders. Let us, therefore, live lives that reflect the reality of the resurrection by praying hard & working diligently to advance Christ’s present kingdom in this world with a strong hope for His future kingdom. For, “if in Christ we have hoped in this life only we are of all people most to be pitied.” (1Cor 15:19) As you reflect on the now past Resurrection Day 2010, may you once again be amazed by Christ’s resurrection and may you look forward in faith to your own.

Christ is risen indeed!
