» Apostleship in the New Testament Effectual Grace

We just finished 3 intense and challenging days teaching & training a couple handfuls of church leaders and potential church-planters in the deep south of Lebanon. The Lord was in our midst and there was much "iron sharpening iron". As I reflect on what we are calling for in "giving birth" to new churches I have been considering what biblical category a missionary/church-planter fills. Is he a pastor/elder? Is he primarily an evangelist? Is he an "apostle" (this is where the wicket gets sticky)? Are there men filling the apostolic office today? Are missionaries apostles? My World Missions professor at GCTS, the late J. Christy Wilson, used to think so, but the idea never sat well with me. Here is a helpful initial combing through of the Scriptures in an attempt to come to some answers: » Apostleship in the New Testament Effectual Grace
